Despite a relentless series of medical setbacks, including a well-publicized battle with cancer, Mario L emieux led the Pittsburgh Penguins to two Stanley Cups and won six NHL scoring titles before retiring in 1997 at the age of 31.

The 20ft long Mario Mosaic was revealed at the CONSOL Energy Center on Lemieux’s 45th birthday. It is made with over 21 thousand photos from fans and  supporters of the Mario Lemieux Foundation whom generously donated their photos as well as monetary contributions (helping raise over $250,000 for cancer research). The Mosaic can be viewed during regular business hours free of charge at the CONSOL Energy Center. There is also a neat website [mariomosaic.com] that provides panning and searching  abilities  for fans to locate their own photographs.

The website also provides an option where you can get a Framed Commemorative plaque that features your photo, the mosaicked photo, a commemorative puck and an autograph by Mario Lemieux.
